Cape Maeda is loacated on the west coast of central Okinawa main island (Okinawa Honto). It takes about one hour from Naha airport.
Cape Maeda is one of the famous sightseeings spots in Okinawa. It’s formed by a raised coral reef. You can enjoy a ton of tropical fish, the colorful coral reef and the mystical “Blue Cave”. The fish are very very friendly and approach divers and swimmers by themselves.
Why is the cave called “Blue Cave”? The light from the sun enters the sea and reflects off the suboceanic limestone and bounces back up into the cave. This makes it appear as if the bottom of the cave is creating a cobalt blue light.
If you come to Okinawa, you should definitely go to the Blue Cave. The experience will be the highlight in your trip in Okinawa.
